No Wolves

A soundless pack
energy from a sun
on the other side of the Earth
and bounced off the moon.

An unseen encirclement
as I centered on
my snack.

Now soil is nourished
by spilled bodily fluids
and muscles run
to celebrate
teamwork.

How Often is Never?

When a bicycle chain
stops the klackity sound of ball bearings
sprockets jump
in a soundless attempt
of regaining favor,

and the sudden inclination
of Earth and self
leads to motivation
and speed
and faith.

The Fanfare Never Ceases

As I emptied my bed
the alarm filled my head
until a foreign sound from the toaster
filled the room's high reaches
with black smoke from a white
English muffin.
And an unwanted text message
emerged from the shelf
sending me back to bed
"you are fired" it said.
A hated alarm
to be missed.

Argon Gas Leak in the Lab

A team of the sorrowful
no longer wags
because there is no one to come home.

The labradoodle and black lab
noses in empty dishes
look up with a ferocity
brought on by hunger and sun.

Carelessness at work
sketches in another victim
as a silent killer leaks out
The mailman leaps to the truck
gate left open
Now they
are gone.

Dire Creations

In spite of the crunch
a shower of needles
that used to be green
and fragrant
and new
now brown from above
forcing blinking closed eyes
and awkward hand movements.

We never shall invite Percy
for it is this time of year
that memories abound
and tongues wag
about how he lit a cigarette
and accidently inflamed the tree
before the garbage man
could squint while
hurling it
into the back.

Service done.

When Skeletons fall From Outer Space

When I look out that window
that cracked slightly in summer
which seems to make a winter
that is colder than a polar vortex
inside my home
that the bank is coveting,
with avarice and drooling,
and a rubbing of hands
that sound like baby powder
which falls from the sky
like the dust of the bones
ancient and dry
cold and forgotten
with traces of DNA
of ancient space walkers
who lost their grip
when a sattelite went off course,
I see my loved one
carrying my lunch
up the frosty walkway
and breathing steam
which warms me
inside.

Sincerity

Truculent porridge!
Recalcitrant day!
Open my door to meet with the wind
that overwhelms my breath
inhaling into my lungs
like a wicker basket
full of ideas
and seafoam.
Breakfast is over!
