Tripping on my Own Porch

 "Ouch!"

And the bottle shatter simultaneously

On my brick porch as the laughing wind

Drowns out my echo

With wagging palm fronds.

Yet the pain of my pet peeve,

A stubbed toe

Persists

As I hobble to the broom

Dust pan

And another beer.

Animal Kingdom

We will be just fine

unless we evolve into something

utterly polluting and self-loathing

inconsiderate and irresponsible

cowardly and short-sighted

undeserving of help

undeserving of perpetuation

extinct

like you.

Car Chase for Breakfast

Car chase for breakfast

Earth pulling

Time wasting

Sky growing heavy as fuel combustion wanes.

Kamakazi only solution

Or

Turn the channel.

Winners of Evolution?

Winners of Evolution?

While thumbing through leaves of trees

waiting for the nursery cashier

a sprig of sap stung me

as if I had just been lapped by an unknown runner

in a race to a destination

I never knew,

a finish line,

extinction

of

our

wild

selves.
